We just purchased a 1972 28' Irwin, and I am trying to find out as much information on this model as I can. I found specs for a 1970 28-1 and a 1974 28-3 - but neither of them seem to match exactly what we have-our boat seems to have the rigging of a 28-1 and the interior accommodations of a 28-3...Is there a 28-2?? If so, does anyone have the specs? If not, does anyone know what changed between 1970 and 1972??

I also have bought recently, a 1972 Irwin 28.5. with Harken Roller Furler jib. In sailing her from Key Largo to Marathon, where I live, after a tack I heard a loud pop and there was suddenly I had 5 inches of slack in the back stay. I'm going to try to, with Harken's help is tighten the forestay inside the Furler drum.
