I just purchased a 1985 Irwin 38CC with coper sheets below the waterline. The boat is not bottom painted but has very small squares of copper that was applied in sheets and glued to the hull. I would like to remove the copper and bottom paint the hull. Has anyone had any experience with this product and how to remove it? Thanks Capt. Bob

Why would you want to remove the copper sheets????? Bottom paint is nothing more than powdered copper in an emulsion that makes it possible to apply with some ease. I would look into replaceing any "bad" areas with replacement copper sheets. Many of the old sailing ships had copper clad bottoms to keep the sea critters at bay.

How does the bottom look? A copper clad bottom is supposed to be great, but I have never seen one on a fibergl;as boat. If you have pictures, please post them in an album here. Thanks! Capn Jim

Not only for the sea critters, but wouldn't it make an ideal grounding surface for SSB or ham radios?? Ted
