We have converted the aft to a full size bunk and put in some new cabinets. Pictures to be posted when we can slow down enough for Relinda to do it. Joined: 11/19/2008 Posts: 1 Points: 3 Location: Central Virginia re galley location on 37s, my 76 ketch has galley on stbd side. Does anyone have a ketch with the galley to port? Perhaps port galley is typical of sloop or cutter in the 37? ************************************************************ ted&relinda Posted: Monday, January 19, 2009 12:57:49 PM Rank: Newbie Groups: Member
Joined: 1/18/2009 Posts: 3 Points: 9 Location: Punta Gorda, Fl our '74 37 CC is a port galley type. Originally a ketch, mizzen had been removed and the post in the aft cabin taken out. Aft cabin was two single berths, now converted to one full size bunk

No Ice is also a 74, it's a ketch, I like the tank size. 140 Water 100 Diesel. I can motor across the gulf if I like.....
Still doing work on it, and This summer will probably do a little charting with it, I live in a summer touristy place here in Alabama.
ardieb2 My 37 is a Ketch andhas Galley to Port.
ted&relinda Could you post photos of your converted bunks, I have always wanted to do that.

Ryan, Relinda is going to post some pics pretty soon. However if you ever go to the MadMariner site they just did a review of the 37's and our aft cabin is there, minus the new cabinets we just put in., along with another 37 aft cabin.

We were able to get a few pictures of our newly remodeled aft cabin and I have placed those in an album in the photo gallery. Any questions just let us know. We converted the cabin over the first night we slept on her and it just took cutting a couple of fir stips to tack the top boards on to which were cut to size to fit right in between the berths. Just don't do like we did the first night and not put a screw or nail at the outside board to keep them from moving. We had a friend sleeping in the v-berth and she heard the crash and she figured when the boards crashed and she heard us laughing that we were having a good time!! The cabinets and shelves were just installed in December and they make a lot of difference. Both in the looks of the aft cabin and the usefullness. This arrangement does take up more room but you get use to it. A bit of trim work to do this spring. Now comes the fun part- putting everything away. I don't have any pictures in my laptop of the original aft cabin or how we have used it for the last 8 years. When we get home next week I will add them to the photo album. Relinda
