We have done it, but lost the whole rig 3 months ago (long story). It worked very well short handed and does not take a lot of work. When the new rig goes back up the end of March I will send you pictures.

Thanks for the reply, I am looking to do it this Fall, I am starting to Charter my boat out this summer and I am sure it would help me with the tours. I will run the charters singlehanded.

Thanks

I too would be interested in this layout; I'll be single-handing my '82 37' CC Ketch when my re-fit is complete. Any other thoughts, like anchor deployment and retrieval, would be most welcome. Mike

After over 5 months in the yard getting a total re-rig, our Andalucía (76 Irwin 37CC) is in its home slip in Long Beach. For over 25 years I have had it rigged for shorthanded sailing.
Three main purchases required are; sheet stoppers, a self tailing winch and an autopilot.
I haven't figured how to insert pictures into this site yet so I will have to try to post them on our blog and link you to them.
On the port side, forward of the cockpit, I mounted a double sheet stopper and winch for the mail sail and stay sail sheet. The starboard side is for the reefing lines. However, before the de-masting the port side had both the staysail and jib halyards. This was changed at my riggers suggestion because both are seldom used and are better handled on-mast. The main mast step sits on a "basket" but before the de-masting I had screwed three turning blocks to the main mast to allow the cockpit winches to be used. The reason I installed a 2 speed self tailing winch was because of the strength required to raise the main sail after 30 years of doing it. If you are young you could save that $900.
I hope pictures to follow.
Steve

Thanks for the post, I think I saw the pictures in the gallery of your boat, Thanks for posting them, It looks great, I would be interested in seeing more of the base of the mast and inside pictures, it looks like you have done a tone of work!
Thanks
